The Assembly on Friday passed a Bill to entrust the Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission (TNPSC) with the additional function of recruiting candidates for certain posts in the State public sector undertakings, corporations and statutory boards.
Finance and Human Resources Management Minister Palanivel Thiaga Rajan, who introduced the Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission (Additional Functions) Bill, said the enactment would help to maintain professionalism in recruitment for vacancies in these organisations. "It would also relieve such organisations of the cumbersome work relating to recruitments and allow them more time to concentrate on their core work,” he said.
