INFORMATION Technology and Digital Services Minister Dr Palanivel Thiaga Rajan said the state government’s key priorities in the next four years will be to skill graduating talent and integrate them into the workforce through the ICT Academy; establish policies for R&D, deep tech, and AI guidelines; reduce attrition; and provide support programmes for startups to fuel innovation and growth.
Speaking during the 22nd edition of CII Connect 2024 on Tuesday, the minister said the state’s strength lies in its unparalleled tech talent, with 20% of India’s technology professionals hailing from the state. He said over 80% of the workforce in state’s IT sector is local, a unique distinction in India.
Rajesh Varrier, Global Head of Operations, Cognizant and Chairman and MD, Cognizant India, said the state is uniquely positioned to become the AI hub of India.
